Artists and Film Fraternity Comes Out To Help The Flood Affected In Assam

In a notable event, the All Assam Artists and Technicians Fraternity has walked a step forward and started raising funds for the flood affected victims across Assam, who are yet to receive sufficient help from government. Highly acclaimed Assamese musician and singer Zubeen Garg has been seen spearheading this initiative. He along with many other noted musicians, filmstars and artists from Assam has been spotted seeking donations, roaming around the streets of Guwahati City. People belonging to different economic stratas have happily walked ahead to make contribution to ensure better living for the flood affected people. At a time when sufficient help is yet to reach to many affected, various Non Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) have walked ahead with contributions in cash or in kind and are reaching out to the flood affected masses. The drive to collect contributions was organized on 21st and 22nd September at Guwahati and on 23rd September at Tezpur. Today on 24th September, its planned at Jorhat. Bollywood Singer Angaraag ‘Papon’ Mahanta has too made an appeal through social media to initiate the donation among masses.

In this sphere of turmoil, where many places still remain inaccessible and conditions are still worse, people in the country still remain ignorant because these worse conditions through which the state is going through isn’t been able of grab attention of national media. People over social media are also expressing their dissatisfaction on this state and blaming that any international country in disturbance receives full attention and support of the Indians but flood in Assam isn’t been able to do so.

On September 6th, World No. 1 Shuttler Saina Nehwal made a contribution worth Rs. 1 lakh to Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the rehabilitation of the flood victims of Assam. Except for the attention and aid from few, the situations in the state remain ignorant to most of the countrymen.
